Decorating your workspace can bring a little joy to your working day, so whether you want to add little festive touches here and there or go all out, we’ve got you covered.

Make Your Morning Brew in a Christmas Mug

Now we’re not suggesting you brighten your day with a mug of mulled wine or a hot toddy but a Christmas themed mug can help you feel the joy when making your morning brew. Christmassy coffee anyone?

Get Creative with Christmas Lights

Fairy lights make everything a little more magical so why not decorate your home office with a row of twinkling festoon lights? If you have limited space to hang lights, pop some battery powered fairy lights in mason jars and spread a little magic on every surface or shelf.

Scent your Home Office

If festive décor isn’t really your thing, you can add a Christmassy feel to your workspace with some classic festive scents. Ridiculously easy and inexpensive, there’s no simpler way to get in the Christmas spirit. We’re talking about cinnamon, orange and clove, nutmeg and spiced ginger. Dot a few candles around your office and let the scents of Christmas boost your mood. Of course, you don’t have to rely on candles to scent your home office, you can make your own Potpourri if you like to get crafty during the Christmas period.

Bring Festive Cheer with Bauble Bowls

If you don’t want the faff of buying or decorating a tree, a bauble bowl is the perfect thing to add a little Christmas cheer to your desk. Simply fill a large glass bowl with different coloured baubles and fairy lights and voila! This affordable and simple décor trick can really make a statement whether you choose bold colours or classy metallics. If you don’t fancy baubles, you can fill your glass bowl with anything Christmassy. Scented pine cones are a popular option if you don’t have any spare baubles.

Stock up on Christmas Candy

It’s no secret that snacks play a huge role in the average freelancer’s working day and festive editions of all your favourite chocolates and candies can add a little merriment to your workload. We all know that Christmas calories don’t count so fill up a bowl with tasty treats to give you an afternoon pick me up! Candy canes, chocolate coins and Quality Street are essential at this time of year. We can’t think of a better way to boost morale on a cold December day.

Create a Christmas Playlist

Nothing can get you in the mood for Christmas quicker than some classic festive tunes. Pre-Christmas admin and chasing invoices are all less painful when you have the dulcet tones of Chris Rea blasting out for all to hear. If you don’t have the time to create your own soundtrack to the countdown to Christmas, steal one of the most festive playlists from Spotify. This one will have you feeling festive in no time.

Desk Sized Christmas Tree

Perhaps our favourite way to spread some Christmas joy is to decorate your desk and it doesn’t get more festive than a mini Christmas tree. If your home office won’t accommodate a full sized tree, you can order a mini potted tree complete with lights and baubles. The best bit? You can choose one to reflect your own sense of personal style and personality. From simple Scandi style miniature trees with understated fairy lights to trees sprinkled with baubles, bells and sparkly tree toppers, there’s a design to give you the ultimate yuletide feel. Alternatively, you can add a pop of colour to your home office with a Poinsettia. Place it near a window and add a calendar reminder to water it and watch it bloom!

Swap Out Your Art for Christmas Prints

Lastly, if your office is already adorned with inspiring and motivating artwork, prints or quotes, you can swap out your old favourites with festive themed prints. Unlike some types Christmas décor that you have to replace each year, you can pop them in the loft and bring them out every December to fill your office with festive vibes.
