Setting clear rates out from the start is essential as a freelancer. And often, as we’re starting out we’ll naturally set our rates a bit lower to encourage client signs offs and build a sustainable portfolio of clients. However, as the time comes to increase those rates we’ve seen freelancers all too often play too hardball which can come across as a.) a bit commercially naive and b.) risk the relationship.
